In my discussions with partners and customers across the globe, I often hear comments and statements that SMB’s (Small and Medium-Size Business) aren’t a big enough target to be the focus of a cyber attack. However, due to the sheer number of SMB’s doing business online and adding value for customers and suppliers, more and more are falling prey to cyber attacks. In some cases, these can be equally as debilitating as a disaster scenario. Ironically, cyber criminals often understand that SMB’s can be easier targets to acquire and compromise which can further lead to more sophisticated attacks on larger organizations in which the SMB’s may be a trusted supplier. This concept is called “Island Hopping.” Occurring more and more, Island Hopping is used frequently to circumvent our traditional defenses, steal intellectual property as well as personal data from SMB’s and the larger organizations in which they serve. This is the ultimate exploitation of trust.
On Tuesday, December 3 a special agent from the FBI Cyber Division will join me live to discuss the current cyber threats against the SMB marketplace. In our talk, we will discuss the trends we are seeing in the SMB space and the devious acts that are being carried out by the cyber criminals throughout the underground. We will take a deeper look at the profile and makeup of these threat actors and what they are after in our respective organizations. Lastly, recommendations for adequate defense without breaking the budget will also be outlined.
Whether you are a SMB and/or they are your customers, please join us for an informative talk designed to generate awareness and discuss around threat mitigation tactics to protect your organization, customers and most importantly, the longevity and future of your business. Please register today to reserve your spot for this important discussion with the FBI. Hear detailed accounts and thought leadership from one of the largest cyber investigative bodies on the planet. This session shouldn’t disappoint.
