Malware Blog > Look, up in the Skype! It’s a bird! No, it’s another Worm!

TrendLabs has received reports of a new worm spreading via Skype’s chat feature.

The worm is detected as WORM_PYKSE.A. It sends a link to all available contacts of an affected Skype user pointing to the image file shown below:

    WORM_PYKSE_A_img01.gif

Clicking the said link also downloads another worm detected by Trend Micro as WORM_PYKSE.B. Moreover, it connects to several possibly malicious Web sites. As of this writing, however, these Web sites are all inaccessible

This worm behaves just like any other instant messaging malware eventhough it uses an application popular for its VoIP feature as its propagation vector.

This worm is already included in the latest Trend Micro pattern files.
