Trend Micro recognizes the value of third-party validation in a highly-competitive marketplace, and we’ve earned top marks once again! This time, Trend Micro OfficeScan received the top score in AV-TEST’s endurance assessment, a rigorous evaluation that put our capabilities to the test.
OfficeScan received the highest overall score, which evaluated the three most important aspects of antimalware solutions: performance, protection and usability. Predominantly focused on long-term delivery and endurance, the six-month test (September 2013 – February 2014) assessed eight antimalware vendors for small- and medium-sized companies, including Trend Micro, Bitdefender, Kaspersky Labs, F-Secure, Symantec, McAfee, Sophos and Microsoft.
With an overall score of 17.2 out of 18 points, Trend Micro received 5.7 points for performance, 5.8 points for protection and 5.7 points for usability – each category had a maximum of 6 points.
Trend Micro earned the highest score in the performance category, demonstrating its ability to consistently support security demands, while not impeding endpoint performance for other tasks and applications. In fact, OfficeScan’s performance score was more than 26 percent higher than the average score of other vendor solutions.
OfficeScan scored well in the protection category, which tested the detection rate of security solutions in two stages: real-world testing and testing using the AV-TEST reference set. It received a 99 percent detection rate in the real-world test, which examined performance when identifying and terminating 400 types of zero-day malware after visiting infected websites. Under AV-TEST’s reference set, OfficeScan received a 100 percent detection rate when defending against and eliminating 60,000 pieces of widespread malware.
The final category of usability measured the influence on the system and interferences, including warning messages, blockages and false positives. OfficeScan’s scores confirm its capability to stand up to looming threats, while providing users with peace of mind about their device security without hindering performance or functionality. These results validate the security solution’s minimal impact on system speed, including actions such as installing programs, copying files, downloading and uploading, etc.
Considering the emphasis IT organizations place on performance, protection and usability, Trend Micro’s overall top score is independent affirmation that customers can count on our solutions to consistently protect their endpoints. Our performance in the AV-TEST reinforces Trend Micro’s pledge to tackle the developing challenges that individuals and organizations face as targeted threats continue to proliferate. Our continuous delivery of protection for users’ endpoints supports our mission to help make the world safe for the exchange of digital information.
