Microsoft’s Tuesday band-aids have yet to reach all the acres of PCdom and an exploit is already trying one on for size. TROJ_MDROPPER.FC takes advantage of MS07-015, a vulnerability in MS Excel that can allow remote code execution. Being in the MDROPPER family, it of course drops another malware detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_AGENT.LEO.
The icing on the cake, though, is a hot-of-the-press exploit that takes advantage of a yet unknown MS Powerpoint flaw. Another MDROPPER, TROJ_MDROPPER.MY leaves a backdoor detected by Trend Micro as BKDR_AGENT.LLD in its wake.
So the cycle continues– where Microsoft goes, there exploits will follow.
