The Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) is going strong in Washington, D.C. this week, and Trend Micro, as a long and well-established partner, will be there, as always, with a major presence. Our range of security solutions for endpoint, Web and email has been working to enhance and add value to Office 365 cloud security for years, and we’re set to launch a bunch of new capabilities at the show. With these, Microsoft channel partners will be able to find fresh ways to drive greater revenue by addressing end user concerns around data loss and advanced malware.
First, let’s take a look at where the challenges and opportunities lie for channel partners selling Office 365 to medium and large businesses.
The state of the cloud
It’s no exaggeration to say that Office 365 is Microsoft’s flagship cloud productivity suite, offering users around the world online access to a host of subscription-based Office apps like Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and others. With Office 365 revenues reaching $1.5 billion in 2013, and recording an impressive 100% year-on-year growth to Q1 2014, the opportunity for channel businesses is clear.
Despite the continued growth of the industry, security concerns remain a barrier to greater adoption and usage of cloud applications like Office 365. A 451 Research ChangeWave study in November last year found half of enterprises regard cloud app security as a top concern. IT directors and security chiefs are particularly worried about advanced targeted attacks which typically begin with spear phishing emails dropping sophisticated malware onto victim PCs. The data loss resulting from such attacks could leave an organization at a competitive disadvantage and with a negative impact to their brand.
Microsoft channel partners, therefore, have the opportunity to close more Office 365 deals by addressing these concerns through Trend Micro’s value-added security solutions.
New 365-ready security
At WPC today, Trend Micro is introducing a host of new capabilities designed to enhance built-in Office 365 security by protecting customers from advanced threats and data loss, thus enabling Microsoft partners to more effectively close deals. Together, they deliver protection at endpoint, application and network layers in centrally managed solutions which are available as part of the Smart Protection Complete suite.
These new offerings include:
Trend Micro Cloud App Security: This new service uses a Microsoft API to hook into Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. It offers advanced malware detection via sandboxing, data-at-rest encryption with customer-managed keys, and data loss prevention with real-time blocking.
Trend Micro Hosted Email Security: This existing service works with Office 365 and includes top-rated anti-spam, according to Opus, One and top-rated malware, according to AV-Test. Upcoming enhancements include improved spear phishing protection and hidden malware detection.
These enhanced Trend Micro security solutions for Office 365 enable Microsoft partners to close more deals faster by overcoming customer concerns about cloud security. Trend Micro is offering partners a number of SPIFs and other incentives to encourage the channel to generate more revenue through selling its Office 365-ready value-added security.
As the world’s largest pure-play security software provider, Trend Micro is 100% committed to the cloud and Office 365, so you can be sure of delivering proven technology, backed by professional support which won’t let your customers down.
