Email is the most common form of workplace communication, and the easiest way for any attacker to get into a company’s network. According to Trend Labs, 74% of targeted attack attempts used email as an attack vector.

Despite all these threats, a few major security vendors have decided to discontinue their email security solutions.

Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange reached end-of-support on December 31, 2015. It is no longer getting security updates and product patches to protect customers from the latest threats. Some IT security managers may plan to use Exchange Server 2013 or 2016’s built-in protection. However, the security built into Exchange is missing many of the basic functions offered by Forefront. For example, emails suspected of containing malware are not conveniently stored in quarantine.

McAfee email security solutions end-of-sale was announced in October 2015. Intel has decided to focus their investments towards other areas, leaving their current email security customers at risk.

Today, many businesses big and small are moving their on-premises email to the cloud. The best example is Microsoft Office 365, which enjoyed revenue growth of nearly 70%, according to Microsoft’s earnings release FY16 Q1. Office 365 has built-in security on antispam and antimalware, but is lacking advanced threat protection and data loss prevention (DLP).

The e-mail security landscape is changing rapidly these days. Trend Micro is here to help.

No matter whether you are using Forefront or McAfee email security solutions, or are moving to Microsoft Office 365, Trend Micro’s comprehensive email security offers can protect against the full spectrum of email-borne threats.

These are the top five reasons why you should consider Trend Micro’s email solutions:

  • Antispam – Trend Micro offers #1 antispam protection, outperforming 7 leading vendors, including Proofpoint, McAfee and Microsoft
  • Anti-malware – Trend Micro offers top anti-malware protection
  • Advanced threat detection – Trend Micro’s email security products’ sandboxing uses Deep Discovery technology, which has received the top rating in protection two years in a row from NSS Labs
  • Threat Intelligence — Trend Micro’s Smart Protection Network™ blocks 250 million threats daily, and is powered by 1,200+ security experts globally
  • Experience – We invented the first secure email gateway in 1995 and have been a trusted global security vendor for over 26 years

For Forefront Protection for Exchange customers, consider Trend Micro ScanMail Suite for Microsoft Exchange (SMEX). It not only offers protection on top of Exchange’s built-in security, but also provides the best protection among competitors. Furthermore, SMEX is a true “set and forget” solution with features that reduce admin costs.

For McAfee customers who are currently using email protection Software as a Service, Trend Micro Hosted Email Security (HES) is an excellent product for you to transition to. It includes cloud sandbox and email encryption at no extra charges, unlike Proofpoint’s expensive add-ons. Social Engineering Attack Protection is also included in HES to protect customers from targeted attack emails. If you are currently using other McAfee email products, Trend Micro has a complete list of offers to support your transition.

For any customers moving to Office 365 email, Trend Micro Cloud App Security is the ONLY security solution that offers advanced threat protection and data loss prevention (DLP) for Office 365 Email, SharePoint Online and One Drive, complimenting Office 365’s built-in security. In contrast, Proofpoint’s Office 365 product protects email only. Trend Micro Cloud App Security integrates directly using Microsoft APIs, ensuring consistent customer experience. No email re-route is needed.

If you are using Forefront or McAfee email security solutions, or are moving (or have already moved) to Microsoft Office 365, sign up for a free trial or upgrade to Trend Micro solutions today. Our best-in-class technology and products are here to help you navigate the ever changing email security landscape.
