Welcome to October and National Cyber Security Awareness Month. This is a special month-long awareness program put together by U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center. Trend Micro is proud to be an official champion for Cyber Security Awareness Month 2014. As part of this program we will share new resources on cyber security each week.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month was started in the US in 2004 and is meant to be a time to bring government and private industry together to help educate everyone on the threats out there and what they can do to better protect themselves.

This year, the program focuses on a specific theme each week:

  • Week 1 – October 1-3: Theme – General Online Safety & STOP. THINK. CONNECT.
  • Week 2 – October 6-10: Theme – Secure development
  • Week 3 – October 13-17: Theme – Critical Infrastructure & The Internet of Things
  • Week 4 – October 20-24: Theme – Small-Medium Businesses/Entrepreneurs
  • Week 5 – October 27-31: Theme – Cybercrime and Law Enforcement

During this time, you’ll see postings on the Simply Security blog, the Security Intelligence blog and our special landing page with information, tips and other resources that you can use to educate yourself, your family, your friends, your colleagues and employees so you and they can better protect yourself on the Internet.

You can also follow us on Twitter for updates using the #NCSAM hashtag and be sure to check out our first posting for this month: National Cybersecurity Awareness Month: How Do Users Become Victims?
