Once again, we at Trend Micro have proven ourselves to be worthy opponents amongst our competitors in the realm of security and network defense. Our latest victory shines the spotlight on Trend Micro TippingPoint and our next-generation intrusion prevention system (NGIPS). NSS Labs released its 2016 NGIPS Group Test report last week, and TippingPoint’s NGIPS earned a 99.5 percent score for security effectiveness. NSS Labs went on to award us the highly sought-after “recommended” rating, meeting their NGIPS requirements for security effectiveness, performance, and total cost of ownership.
NSS Labs tested eight NGIPS devices and based their evaluations on overall efficacy, performance, cost, stability and reliability. As our customers can attest, the results confirmed TippingPoint NGIPS’ ability to protect critical infrastructure, data and vulnerable applications from known, undisclosed and unknown threats without interrupting network performance or business operations. The device also passed every stability and reliability assessment without registering a single false positive.
To make things even more interesting, NSS Labs added a live component to the test this year to see how effectively products block attacks using their Cyber Advanced Warning System (CAWS) to measure how well security products protect against “drive-by” exploits that target client applications. According to NSS Labs, the CAWS test harness captures thousands of suspicious URLs per day and from an initial sample of over 2.5 million new suspicious URLs, over 2,400 drive-by exploits were included in the test as well as additional attacks that were added based on the level of criminal activity in the wild. TippingPoint came through the test with flying colors with a 99.8% security rating!
NSS Labs is a valued resource for information security managers navigating the solution marketplace, making our rating in this report yet another proof point of the integrity, reliability and security of our enterprise security solutions.
