Trend Micro’s Educational Tech Grant: turning kids into responsible digital citizens

Technology opens opportunities for kids to access the world in ways that they may never otherwise have the ability to do. However, with the ease of sharing information online, kids often fail to see the future consequences of their present online activities, including the negative impact that irresponsible Internet use can potentially have on their later educational and career opportunities.

Trend Micro is keenly aware of the importance of safe online behavior, particularly for kids. That’s why, as an effort to educate kids and families on responsible Internet use, we launched our Internet Safety for Kids & Families program in 2008. Trend Micro’s vision of creating a world safe for exchanging digital information will be carried forward by our younger generations, and we believe it’s our responsibility to help educate and arm them with the necessary tools to become responsible digital citizens.

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, and in correlation with our commitment to Internet safety for kids, we’re excited to launch our Educational Technology Grant program. The initiative will award 12 K-12 schools across the United States a grant of up to $25,000, consisting of a monetary contribution, in-kind software donations and professional services from Trend Micro to be used for an educational technology project. The goal of the program is to educate students about safe technology use and to arm them with the knowledge they need to use technology in ways that will help, not harm, themselves and others.

Help us to spread the word about the Educational Technology Grant, and do your part to empower students to practice responsible Internet use. Applicants can find more details and apply for the grant here.
