What does it mean for Trend Micro™ Titanium™ security to be “light?”

Most computer users recognize the need for antivirus and Internet security software. However, many users don’t necessarily know the advantages of some of the technology available. Trend Micro Titanium offers Internet security and antivirus software that is unique because it utilizes cloud-client technology to protect your computer.

How does this benefit the user? There are millions of threats blocked every day. To be protected, your security software has to have information on all of these threats and be up-to-date. Titanium uses huge databases of information needed to protect your computer against viruses, spyware, other malware and compromised web sites. These databases are stored “in the cloud,” around the world, ready for your computer to instantly access them whenever needed.

With cloud-client technology, all of that data doesn’t take up space on your hard drive. Whenever Titanium checks an email, a website or a link, it communicates with a database and analyzes its validity and safety. If anything suspicious is detected, you are protected. In addition, as Titanium finds new threats, that information is updated immediately on all of Trend Micro databases around the world. This means that your computer is always accessing the most current data possible on suspicious sites, spam, and viruses.

How does this make Titanium light? The bulk of the information resides on databases in the cloud and not on your computer. This means that your security software isn’t sucking up your system resources (such as hard drive space) leaving it free to be used in other ways.

There are three levels of Titanium protection: Trend Micro™ Titanium™ Antivirus+, Trend Micro™ Titanium™ Internet Security, and Trend Micro™ Titanium™ Maximum Security.

Strong, fast, and easy-to-use protection — Trend Micro Titanium uses cloud technology to automatically stop viruses and spyware before they reach your computer, so it won’t slow you down- it’s a whole new way to protect your computer.
