According to a recent committee hearing by the House Small Business Committee, nearly 60 percent of small companies go out of business within six months following a hack and 71 percent of all cyber assaults occur at businesses with under 100 workers.  Our own data at Trend Micro indicates that small businesses are not immune from cyberattacks. In fact, small businesses are generally regarded as being more susceptible to attacks due to lack of dedicated security personnel and minimal investment in security software and hardware. In 2016, Trend Labs saw a 752 percent increase in ransomware families and ransomware related attacks did not discriminate based on business size. Small business and large businesses alike were targeted and fell victim to ransomware attacks.

At Trend Micro, we’ve been working tirelessly to address ransomware, and other new emerging threats, to help secure our customers environments and ensure they aren’t one of the 60 percent of small companies that go out of business.

I’m excited to announce today that we’ve released the latest version of our industry leading small business solution, Worry-Free Services, powered by XGen™ security. With this new version, we are able to deliver on the XGen™ promise of providing the right protection technique at the right time to provide maximum protection with minimal resources.

So, what is XGen™ security, and how does it revolutionize the industry? XGen™ security is a cross-generational approach to security that combines proven threat detection techniques to quickly identify known and unknown threats with advanced threat protection techniques, such as application control, exploit prevention and behavioral analysis. You can learn more about XGen in this short video.

In order to deliver on that promise, we’ve introduced three new features to Worry-Free Services, and since Worry-Free Services is a cloud-based solution, all of these features are available today. Those three features are:

  • High-Fidelity Machine Learning – Checks files both before execution and at runtime – using ‘noise cancellation’ features such as census checking and whitelisting to reduce false positives.
  • Application Control – Prevents applications from being executed on protected devices.
  • Encryption Management – Provides a centralized management console for the native Bitlocker full disk encryption features of Windows 10.

Existing Trend Micro Worry-Free Services and Worry-Free Services Advanced customers already have these new capabilities available to them.  I’d encourage you to login and turn them on to ensure you have the best protection available for your small business.  If you’d like to learn more, or download a free trial of Worry-Free Services, powered by XGen™ security please visit us at http://www.worryfree.com/.
